ME SBG - Moria Goblin Captain Conversion Step by Step Tutorial! [Conversions #4]
Hello everybody!
On this blog I already posted a post where I showed a picture of my 3 self-converted Moria Goblin Captains, and explained how I did it. In this post, I will give a clear, step by step tutorial of how to convert Moria Goblins in to Captains.
For this tutorial, I converted 5 metal Goblins with Bows, and 1 plastic Goblin with a Bow to captains. The models already looked a bit different from the normal Goblins, because they are an older design.
This is a picture of the models I used:
First, you have to take all the models from their bases. If they are glued to their bases, you can cut them of. In this picture, I took them all from their bases and already cut 2 of them of the little plastic / metal piece (the piece that makes them fit in their bases):
Once you cut all the metal / plastic that is underneath their feet of, you end op with this:
You need to save the bases, because we will be using them later. You don't need to save the little plastic / metal pieces, but they might come in handy in later conversions.
Next, we are going to make a big rock for every Goblin to stand on. I used foam, which was very usefull, but a lot of other materials will do too. This is a picture of the foam I used:
I cut in in 6 separate pieces, all the size of a models base (around one inch). This is a picture of the 6 pieces of foam:
After that, you shape all the foam, to make it look like they are actual rocks, instead of just blocks of stone. This is a picture of how I did it:
Once you shaped all 6 pieces, you glue them to the bases the models originally where placed on. Now you schould have something like this:
You don't glue the Goblins to the rocks yet, because we are first going to paint the rocks black:
Once you painted all the rocks, you have to wait until the paint has dried. Once the paint is dry, you can glue the models on to the rocks. That is the final step of this tutorial. If you want to paint them different than the normal Goblins, you can still do that.
