ME SBG - Basic Principles - [Rules #5]
Hey everybody!
In this post I will explain all Basic Principles of ME SBG. Lets start!
Good vs Evil
All the models in ME SBG are either Good, either Evil. In a game of ME SBG, you will command either the forces of Good, or the forces of Evil. There must always be at least one player at each side. If you play larger games you can divide the Good and the Evil forces in different teams commanded by different players, that work together as either the forces of Good, or the forces of Evil.
Turns
ME SBG is, like many other games, divided in turns. Every turn players can move, shoot, fight and anything else they are able to do with their models. You can play a certain amount of turns, and then after all the turns, you determine who won the game. You can also play until all the models except the winners models are dead. There are a lot more different ways to play the game.
D6, D3, 2D6....
Sometimes you will find abbreviations in for example the rule manual which are used to explain which dice to roll or how to apply the results. A normal die has 6 sides. The abbreviation for rolling one normal die is D6. Sometimes you have to use a D3. This means "Roll a 3 sided die". If you have to roll a D3, you just roll a D6, but if you roll 1-2, it is a 1, if you roll 3-4 it is a 2 and if you roll 5-6 it is a 3. That is how you roll a D3 by using a D6 only. If you have to roll 2 dice, the abbreviation for that is "2D6", meaning you have to roll 2 ordinary dice with 6 sides.
Characteristics
Sometimes it may happen in a game that the stats of a certain model increase or decrease during the game. This can for example happen when somebody uses a special rule. The Fight, Strength, Defence and Courage values can only be decreased to a minimum of 1, and can only be increased to a maximum of 10.
'Cocked dice'
Most of the times when you play a game of ME SBG you will play on a (slightly) 3D surface. This means that when you roll a die it might not land completely flat, or even worse, it might roll off the table! In this cases you just roll the dice again.
Re-Rolls
Sometimes due to for example a special rule it may happen that a player has permission to re-roll a die if he is not satisfied with his previous roll. In this case the re-roll will always stand, even when it is worse then the first roll. Re-rolls can never be re-rolled.
Three categories of models
All models of ME SBG can be divided in three categories: Infantry, Cavalry and Monsters. The categorie of a certain model will always be mentioned in the models profile.
Thats it for this post, but new posts will follow!:P
